Known as one of hardstyle music’s most innovative artists, Phuture Noize has never committed to one particular sound or shape. Instead, this Dutch DJ/producer has always envisioned new ways of producing his music, delivering hardstyle in its most versatile shape, incorporating in-depth storytelling, songwriting and art. Fueled by the energy of the dancefloor, he uses hardstyle to write personal stories about the post-modern life, leading to 2017’s (solo) debut album Pursuit Of Thunder, 2018’s highly acclaimed second album Black Mirror Society and 2020’s claim to fame Silver Bullet, released on his newly founded record label Black Mirror Society.
It’s quite the story to be told here. Born as Marco Spronk in 1994, this Dutchman quickly develops a wide interest in music, leading to his first excursions round the age of thirteen. From there on, he continues to evolve his talent, resulting in his first official production at age sixteen. There’s immediate feedback and recognition from the hardstyle scene, urging the youngster to improve with every new release.
Being only nineteen years old, he already plays the mighty Gelredome stadium, followed by performances at leading (hardstyle) events like Defqon1, Qlimax, Mysteryland, Intents and more. Not before long, Phuture Noize becomes a household name in hardstyle, delivering key tracks to the evolving sound of the genre.
From there on, the story enters an exciting next chapter. As of 2015, Phuture Noize becomes Marco Spronk’s solo project, giving him the opportunity to improve and widen his musical skills. He starts to focus more on music conceptualization and composition, while upgrading his studio workflow. There’s a vision; a need to create a more mature hardstyle sound, while not losing the original Phuture Noize energy.
In 2016, this leads to groundbreaking new singles ‘Shallow Waters’ and ‘The Worlds Beyond’, defining the new era of Phuture Noize. The music brings exciting additives to hardstyle, from raw industrial sounds to mystic vocals and mesmerizing soundscapes, providing the songs with a whole spectrum of emotions. Phuture Noize turns into a skilled hardstyle storyteller, underscored by 2017’s album Pursuit Of Thunder, in essence Spronk’s solo debut album.
By then, his breakthrough is official. Phuture Noize plays all the major hardstyle events, touring the globe while continuing to evolve his songwriting. Each new release seems to create a stir in the hardstyle community, providing the festival crowds with something special.
Inspired and energized, Phuture Noize returns with his second (solo) album in 2019, the highly acclaimed Black Mirror Society. Again, the Dutch artist is making waves in the hardstyle community, creating a series of unique compositions, including hit singles like ‘Black Mirror Society’ and ‘Circles And Squares’. Later that year, he announces to stop touring indefinitely, as he’s not satisfied with the relentless touring schedules the industry forces upon DJ’s. Instead, he’s going to dive even deeper into his music, devoting his time to create something brand new.
Well, he keeps his promise. While 2020 coincidentally sees the whole dance scene on a touring hiatus due to the global pandemic, Phuture Noize starts an ambitious music platform, named after his last album: Black Mirror Society. The first release on this record label is the much anticipated album Silver Bullet, featuring popular tracks like ‘365’ and ‘Masquerade’. The producer clearly used his time in the studio, as this album bursts of impressive hooks and clever songwriting - at only 26-years old, Marco Spronk has reached the higher echelons of hardstyle, as DJ, producer, tastemaker and label boss.
As said, it’s quite the story. Phuture Noize has taken himself and his audience on a journey to discover how far he can turn hardstyle into a more serious songwriting genre. And rest assured, that story is still being written today, as the phuture is still right round the corner.
